Wilmsdorff is the name of a Prussian noble family . Branches of the family persist to this day.

history

The von Wilmsdorff are agnates of the Prebendow , with whom they undisputedly share the coat of arms , are therefore also referred to as the old Pomeranian nobility. The family appears for the first time in a document with Jenke (Jänichen) von Prebendau , who received 70 hooves from the Teutonic Order in 1467 for loyal service to Wilmsdorf near Morungen . The family named themselves after this von Wilmsdorff estate .

A Dutch branch, which was donated by the major in the Dutch service, Jobst (Joost) Lodewjk von Wilmsdorff (1748 †), was later also called von Proebentow van Wilmsdorff .

possession

In addition to the family estate that gave it its name, the family in Prussia owned the estates of Bestendorf, Borken, Dollstädt, Freiwalde, Glashütte, Grauden, Kelken, Kittenau, Mahrau, Micken, Moskal, Petzdorf, Groß and Klein Samrodt, Tauersee, Tautschken, Warweiden and Wolka.

The common coat of arms with that of Prebendow shows in gold a natural marten jumping up with a red apple (since 1695 with the imperial orb ) in its muzzle. On the helmet , with red and gold covers, the marten growing with the apple.
