Windeln.de (formerly Urban-Brand GmbH) is a German mail order company for baby and children's items with headquarters in Munich . It operates the online mail order companies windeln.de , windeln.ch and bebitus .
The company was founded in 2010 by Konstantin Urban, Alexander Brand and Dagmar Mahnel. Major investors in the startup include DN Capital, Acton Capital, Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs . Windeln.de has been listed in the CDAX since the IPO on May 6, 2015 .
The People's Republic of China is the largest sales market for windeln.de . In 2014 sales were around 101 million euros; In total, the company made a loss of around 9.6 million euros. In 2015 sales and losses increased to 179 and 30.4 million euros, respectively. In 2016, sales of almost 195 million euros were achieved. As in the previous year, the loss rose to 34 million euros.
In 2017, sales were EUR 212 million and the loss was EUR 28 million.
In February 2018, the company announced that the warehouse in Italy and parts of the store in Switzerland would be closed.
