The windmill Hittfeld is under monument protection standing Dutch windmill ( Erdholländer ) in the municipality Seevetal in Lower Saxony . It is the landmark of the Seevetal district of Hittfeld and the only windmill in Seevetal that still exists today. The Hittfeld windmill is part of the Lower Saxony Mill Road .

The Hittfeld windmill is located on the southern outskirts, in the immediate vicinity of the BAB 1 and the Hittfeld Evangelical Lutheran cemetery.
history
The Hittfeld windmill is an earth dutchman without a gallery with a twisted cap or wing hood. It was built in 1875 and became the property of the Voss family in 1899. The current owner is Heinrich Voss. The Hittfeld windmill was badly damaged by a storm in 1954. The mill was completely restored in 1957. The Hittfeld mill is no longer used commercially. Nevertheless, the technology is completely preserved and functional, so that grinding is theoretically possible.
As early as 1964, the mill historian Wilhelm Kleeberg declared this earth Dutchman “absolutely worthy of preservation” in his Lower Saxony mill history . For the renovation and maintenance of the windmill in Hittfeld for future generations, the Förderverein Hittfelder Windmühle e. V. founded.
The Hittfeld windmill is a popular photo opportunity. For example, photographs adorn the birthday calendar as the title motif, The historic Hittfeld of the Heimatverein Hittfeld und Umgegend e. The Hittfelder Windmühle acted as a film set in the Edgar Wallace film The Eerie Monk in 1965 and gained greater fame as a result.
