The Reina Roxana windmill is a former gallery Dutch windmill in Borstel , a municipality in the Lower Saxon municipality of Siedenburg . It is considered a landmark of the place.
history
The windmill was built in 1864 by Müller Heuermann and, as was customary at that time, named after the Müller Heuermannsche windmill . Before the windmill was built , Heuermann operated a water mill in Bücken . In order to keep the mill running even when the wind was insufficient, a steam engine was installed in an extension , which was later replaced by a diesel engine and then an electric motor . At the beginning of the 20th century, an electrical generator was installed that supplied the mill and, from 1918, some neighboring houses with electricity . During the Second World War the mill remained undamaged, but the owner Heinrich Heuermann fell in 1945. The windmill was shut down in 1956 and left to decay.
When the building threatened to be demolished in 1985, a private buyer was found for the mill. The inner mill was removed to make room for living quarters, and the mill head also disappeared. Then the owners changed again and the mill came into the possession of the Mutz family. The gallery was renewed and a mill head, albeit without a wing, was put back on. However, the gallery did not last long and was removed a short time later.
The Reina Roxana windmill is a station on the Lower Saxony Mill Road .
The name Reina Roxana
The former windmill was given the name Reina Roxana by the owner Mutz. Roxana is the name of the mill owner's wife, Reina is Spanish and means queen .
