history
The eleven windmills from the 16th century bear names such as El Blanco , La Turca and El Sancho Pansa , the name of the servant in the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes . In addition to Consuegra, the places Campo de Criptana and Mota del Cuervo also claim to have served as a template for the scene of the knight's fight with the windmills. In the Caballero del Verde Gabán (Knight in the Green Cloak) mill there are numerous copies of Don Quixote .
A grinding stone can be seen in the Bolero mill , where the tourist office is located, and the entire grinding mechanism is still preserved in the El Sancho Panza mill . The Cardeño mill used to be inhabited and the Rucio mill has an exhibition on wine . The Espartero mill contains an exhibition on the arts and crafts in the province of Toledo.
