Windows Mail is the further development of Outlook Express included in Windows Vista .

Unlike earlier Outlook Express, Windows Mail is not installed with new versions of Internet Explorer on other versions of Windows, but is reserved for Windows Vista. However, Windows Mail is closely linked to Internet Explorer and depends on its security zones. Windows Mail also uses Internet Explorer's phishing filter, which was introduced at the same time as version 7.

An interesting aspect is that Windows Mail can no longer use the Hotmail service offered by Microsoft . Hotmail or outlook.com can only be used via POP. If you have problems with Windows Mail, Microsoft recommends using the Windows Live Mail program instead.
