Aisha N. Tyler (born September 18, 1970 in San Francisco , California ) is an American actress , comedian and author .

Life and accomplishments

Tyler saw her parents divorce at the age of ten, after which she grew up with her father. Tyler attended McAteer High School in San Francisco, where she took acting classes. She graduated in political science at Dartmouth College from. In 1996 she moved to Los Angeles .

Tyler made her debut in an episode of the 1996 television series Nash Bridges . In 2003, she appeared in the television series Friends , for which she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award that same year . She was nominated for an Image Award in 2006 and 2007 for her roles in the television series 24 and in the television drama For One Night . In the film drama Kaliber 45 , she played on the side of Milla Jovovich and Angus Macfadyen .

In 2014 released music video for Weird Al Yankovic's Tacky, a parody of Pharrell Williams Happy , Tyler is also represented. Since 2015 she has been in the recurring role of psychologist Dr. Tara Lewis in the US series Criminal Minds . For the first time, she also directed the series for the sixth episode of season 13.

Tyler has been married to attorney Jeff Tietjens since 1992.
