Santa Clause 2 - An even nicer present (original title: The Santa Clause 2 ) is the second part of the "Santa Clause" Christmas film trilogy by the Disney studios with Tim Allen in the lead role. The film didn't appear until eight years after the first part, with actors and film producers remaining largely the same, but the rest of the staff being completely replaced.

Scott Calvin has been the new Santa Claus for eight years . He has worked well into his position and is preparing with the elves for the upcoming Christmas party . In the middle of the preparations, Bernard the upper elf lets him know that there is a “Mrs. Claus Clause ”. It says that Santa has to get married before Christmas in order not to lose his office.

When Santa also learns that his son Charlie is on the list of naughty children, it is clear to him that he has to go to his hometown. The question arises who will take command of the North Pole in the meantime . Curtis, an experimental elf, has an idea. The duplicating / enlarging / reducing machine will create a rubbery duplicate of Santa; the other elves are left in the dark about the doppelganger. Scott gets a watch from Bernard to read off his magical energy, which he must not let go to zero, otherwise he would not come back.

Santa, aka Scott, learns in his hometown that Charlie has received a serious warning because of graffiti in the gym with which he protested the school's foregoing Christmas decorations for teaching materials. Scott, along with Charlie, Charlie's mother Laura and her husband Neil, go to school principal Carol Newmann and promise Charlie never to do the same again. However, this quickly relapses and still has a chance to avert a expulsion from school with the charitable work of removing graffiti from walls. The director is in charge of supervision and Scott, whose "desantafication" is already well advanced (which, however, benefits his urgently needed opportunities with women), has a private conversation with her and then goes to her home to invite her to dinner. Carol counters with an invitation to the teachers' Christmas party, with Scott performing all sorts of magic there and on the way. Carol is so impressed that she kisses Scott on the cheek and soon afterwards they both kiss on the mouth.

At the North Pole, the deputy Santa mutates into a revolutionary and turns the Christmas factory upside down. The production of toys is stopped, the children are to be punished with coal. With a nutcracker army made with a Curtis machine, he keeps the elven workforce in check. Bernard now explains to them that this is not the real Santa, but is put under arrest by the nutcrackers.

During a snowball attack on Carol's house, Charlie and two friends discover that Scott is a guest there. He reveals to Carol that he's Santa Claus. She thinks it's a scam to get rid of them and sends him home. Curtis arrives there and informs Scott of the situation at the North Pole. The tooth fairy brings Scott and Curtis to the North Pole, where the doppelganger arrests them. Another transport of the tooth fairy brings Charlie and Carol after Charlie was able to convince Carol by means of the snow globe of the elves that his father is really Santa Claus. Scott and Curtis are released. Together with the elves, they overthrow the fake Santa Claus, who has to endure the diminutive function of Curtis machine. Scott tells Carol about "Mrs. Claus Clause ”, but also that he fell in love with her: a marriage proposal follows , which Carol accepts. Before midnight, the two of them are married by Mother Nature. Scott can stay Santa Claus and promises Carol a long honeymoon before he goes off to bring the presents to all the children.

George S. Clinton won the "BMI Film Music Award 2003" for his film music. In addition, the film was nominated as “Best Fantasy Film” in the same year for the Saturn Award and Eric Lloyd again for the Young Artist Award .
