The Düren-Arnoldsweiler wind farm is located in the northern part of the city of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia directly on the federal motorway 4 and consists of four wind turbines .

location

The wind farm is located in the district Im Oberzierer Feld , on the outermost edge of the urban area of Düren in the Arnoldsweiler district , bordering the Niederzier community and its districts of Huchem-Stammeln , Oberzier and Ellen . The Hambach and Inden open- cast lignite mines are also in the vicinity. The federal motorway 4 runs to the south of the wind farm. To the northwest and east, several overhead lines for high voltage lead past the Oberzier transformer station.

history

The first three wind turbines were built in 2001 by Umweltkontor AG . This is the Enron Wind 1.5s turbine type from the US company Enron , which filed for bankruptcy at the end of 2001 and whose wind division was subsequently taken over by General Electric in June 2002 . In 2004, Umweltkontor AG also had to file for bankruptcy. Each turbine has a nominal output of 1.5 MW with a rotor diameter of 71 m and a hub height of 65 m. The same company also built another wind farm in 2001 in the Düren district of Distelrath with identical systems.

In 2011, the wind farm was expanded to include an ENERCON E-82 E2 system from the manufacturer Enercon . This plant has a nominal output of 2.3 MW with a rotor diameter of 82 m and a hub height of 108 m. The operator of this plant, which went into operation in May 2011, is the company BMR energy solutions GmbH from Geilenkirchen .
