Winfrid Trenkler (born April 13, 1942 ) is a music journalist who, from 1973 onwards, moderated popular radio programs in the field of progressive rock music and electronic music on West German radio .

broadcasts

  • 1972 to 1986: radio broadcasts on WDR 2 :
    • “Pro Pop Music Shop”, continued as “Rock In” from 1973 (broadcast slot only on Friday afternoon from 3:05 pm to 4:00 pm, later in the Friday evening program, then Wednesday evening from 9:05 pm to 10:30 pm). The theme tune was originally "Warlock" by Caravan , later "Excursion with complications" by Bo Hansson (album "Magician's Hat").
    • January 1974 to December 1980: “Radiothek am Thursday” with progressive rock music and electronic music (broadcast time 19.05 to 21.00, co-moderator Tom Schroeder ). The theme song was "The Black Riders" by Bo Hansson (album " Lord of the Rings ").
    • January 1984 to June 1986: the program “Schwimmern” every 14 days on Thursdays (broadcast time from 10.30 pm to midnight, with interruptions by 11 pm news).
  • 1986 to 1995: radio broadcasts on WDR 1 :
    • June 1986 to January 1988: the program "Rock In", every 14 days on Thursdays, alternating with "Vibrations"; Transmission time for both formats is now 10:05 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., no longer interrupted by news; "Rock In" was canceled in late January 1988.
    • April 1987 to 1995: "Vibrations" ( electronic music ), now every Thursday, broadcast time from 10:05 pm to midnight, without a break in the news. From January 1984 on, the theme tune for this program was “So far - so good!” From Harald Grosskopf's album “Synthesist”. After a concert by Michael Garrison in the Stollwerck community center in Cologne in 1994, “Departure” from Garrison's album “Eclipse” became the theme song from Schwenzen until the program was discontinued in March 1995.
  • Since 1995: Vibrations - "Radio on CD": the private continuation of the radio broadcast on CDs.

Private life

Trenkler has lived in Sweden with his partner for years.
