WirrWahr is a medieval band from Bonn and Mönchengladbach . The band was founded in May 2005, they play middle-alternative music, the songs being sung in German, Old Norwegian and Occitan.

Band history

The band was founded in 2005 by the now retired musicians Eigil the Confused and Baccata the Tactless, Prillan the Twisted and The Nameless Gray. September of the same year dropped out of the nameless gray, which was replaced by Filzmaul, who supported the band with bagpipe and shawl. Shortly afterwards, Prillan also withdrew the twisted into private life. For them there was a knocker on the percussion. At the same time, Rhabia joined as a guest musician with lute, guitar and vocals. She left the band in June 2006. From then on, the band consisted of the founding members Baccata and Eigil, as well as the newcomers Filzmaul and Klopfer. The debut album "Pest of" was created with this line-up. In July 2007 Harpfari joined them and strengthened the band with bagpipes and shalmey. Filzmaul left WirrWahr on January 1st, 2008. From then on, Silentio played the loud guitar. With this line-up the band produced the second album "Ante Portas". In 2011 Baccata and Silentio left the band. Atreju has been playing the guitar for Silentio since 2011.

The band plays medieval music (sometimes called "middle-alternative" music), as they do not adhere directly to historical guidelines in terms of arrangement and instrumentation. Although the pieces are often based on historical models, they are increasingly enriched by pieces they have composed themselves. On March 22nd, 2007 the band released their first album WirrWahr - Pest of under the label "Soul Food". In May 2007 WirrWahr was a guest at the Historienspiele Jülich and in June 2007 at the Historisches Festspiele Koblenz. On August 25, 2007, WirrWahr had their first "TV appearance" on GIGA TV in Cologne. In September 2008 WirrWahr was z. B. guest at the Miroque Festival in the Histotainment Park Adventon. On April 3, 2009 the band released their second album WirrWahr - Ante Portas under the label "Soul Food". On July 31, 2009 WirrWahr was a guest at the Castlefest. A steadily growing level of awareness and success characterized the following years until today. WirrWahr has been playing as a 3-man formation since 2013, consisting of: Klopfer (vocals, drums), Harpfari (bagpipes, Wizzle, Schalmeien) and Atrèju (guitar). You can see WirrWahr z. B. on the stages of Burg Satzvey, Schloss Amerang, Wave-Gothic-Treffen, Wacken Open Air, Burg Hausen & Festival Mediaval. The third album by the band Große Säcke - Harte Knüppel was released at the end of April 2015.
