The Wittelsbacherschule in Kempten im Allgäu is a listed building of the Neo-Baroque with the address Frühlingstraße 14 . A middle school is housed in the building today (as of 2012) . The school is named after the noble family of the Wittelsbach name.
history
The school was built between 1905 and 1907 and is located next to the secondary school on Salzstrasse, which was built later . Until 2007 it was a primary and partial secondary school I. During this time, grades 1 to 6 were taught. Today grades 5 to 10 are taught. The school offers three directions:
- Regular classes (5th to 9th grade), this branch is attended by 39% of the students.
- Tied all-day classes (5th to 9th grade), lessons are held from morning to afternoon by a tandem teacher. 33% of the students attend all-day classes.
- Middle-Reife branch (7th to 10th grade), 28% of the students are taught here.
The Wittelsbach School is attended by about 280 students.
Description of the structure
The Wittelsbacherschule consists of two angularly arranged three-storey wings, which are decorated with volute- ornamented gables . A rider clock rests on the roof . The original clockwork is exhibited in one of the wings. There are three-story volute gables and stone portals on each of the narrow sides . A round bay window is built in front to the northwest .
