Christa Grasmeyer

Christa Grasmeyer (born December 22, 1935 in Schwerin ) is a German writer .

The daughter of a businessman worked as a typist and journalist for the Norddeutsche Zeitung in Schwerin, later as a doctor's secretary, bookseller and as a secretary in a sports club in Schwerin.

In 1975 she began to publish books primarily for young readers (mostly in a hardcover series by the Neues Leben publishing house designed for young people ). Her stories deal with the difficult phase of youth in life, love and friendship, family conflicts or problems with vocational training. She has been working as a freelancer since 1977, and in 1979 she was accepted into the GDR Writers' Association. In 1985 she received the Fritz Reuter Art Prize of the city of Schwerin.

In 1990 she gave up writing and only occasionally writes short stories. Christa Grasmeyer lives in Schwerin.
