The Napoleon mine was a non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Overath in the Untereschbach district . The Napoleon mine field extended in the vicinity of Großbuchholz .

history

On August 10, 1847, Johann Wilhelm Hohn from Obereschbach made a first mutation under the name Primus . The requests for encouragement were repeated several times. After a field inspection on September 22, 1855, the award of lead ore to the merchant C. Bennert of Cologne under the new name Napoleon took place on February 22, 1856 . The pit, originally awarded as a length field , was converted into a square field with an award document from May 28, 1866 .

Operation and facilities

No documents are available about the operating activities. Only the existing relics give an idea of the earlier mining . In the siefen southeast of the Großbuchholz farm, the heap of the investigation tunnel is still completely preserved. In addition to a broken tunnel mouth hole , a somewhat larger dump can be seen in the area.
