Wittesheim is a district of Monheim in the Donau-Ries district ( Bavaria ). In addition to the village itself (191 inhabitants), Liederberg (43 inhabitants) belongs to the district .
geography
The parish village is about four kilometers northeast of Monheim. The Ehbrust stream flows through the village and flows southeast into the Gailach , a tributary of the Altmühl .
history
Wittesheim is a very early establishment. There is evidence that the local church was consecrated by Bishop Gundekar II of Eichstätt between 1057 and 1075 . From 1080 to 1400 Wittesheim was the seat of the nobility.
On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Monheim.
