Weilheim is a district of the town of Monheim in the Donau-Ries district ( Bavaria ).
In addition to the village of Weilheim (290 inhabitants), Rothenberg with 22 inhabitants also belongs to the district.

geography

The parish village is located about 5 km northwest of Monheim on the Monheimer Alb , at the northernmost end of the Donau-Ries district, in the west of Bavaria.

Dialect boundaries

Weilheim and Rothenberg are among the border towns of the Alemannic dialect area . Weilheim forms the border from Swabian to East Franconian , Rothenberg from Swabian to Bavarian . The capital Monheim itself is already part of the Bavarian dialect area.

traffic

Weilheim is on the Donauwörth – Treuchtlingen railway line , which passes in the west. One kilometer south is the Otting-Weilheim train station. The district road DON 2 crosses the village. From this, the DON 12 branches off towards Wemding .

history

Weilheim was once on a Roman road. In the High Middle Ages the Counts from Graisbach owned the place. In 1283 it was donated to the Kaisheim monastery.

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Monheim.

Local spokesman is Michael Schuster (elected city councilor, Monheim area list); Another city council member residing in Weilheim is Gerhard Böswald (CSU).
