Wittich Schobert
Wittich Schobert (born July 4, 1970 in Helmstedt ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and mayor of the district town of Helmstedt.
After graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk in Wolfsburg . Wittich Schobert worked as a senior editor until 1999 and has since been co-editor of Helmstedter Sonntag .
Schobert has been a member of the Junge Union (JU) since 1986 and an honorary member of the JU district association Helmstedt since 2003. In 1987 Wittich Schobert joined the CDU; from 2001 to 2012 he was chairman of the CDU district association Helmstedt.
At the age of 21 he was elected mayor of his home village Barmke in 1991 ; at the time he was the youngest honorary mayor in Germany.
From 2003 to November 9, 2011, Schobert was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament ; he was directly elected member of the electoral district of Helmstedt . In 2011 he was elected mayor of the city of Helmstedt to succeed Heinz-Dieter Eisermann . He prevailed here with 45.7% of the vote against Friedhelm Possemeyer (SPD, 33.7%) and Frank Neddermeyer (independent, 20.6%). Thereupon Schobert resigned his mandate; for him moved Joachim Stünkel according to the state parliament. On September 24, 2017, he was re-elected with 55.50% against Hans-Jürgen Schünemann (SPD 33.26%), Stefan Broughman (AfD 6.27%) and Verena Ahrendts (UWG 4.97%).
Schobert is honorary president of the Barmker bachelor club.
