The Wittur Group , with the operating parent company Wittur Holding GmbH , is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of components for elevator construction . Founded in 1968, the group is now represented with subsidiaries and branches in Europe, Asia and South America. The company's headquarters are in Wiedenzhausen, Germany, which lies between Munich and Augsburg .

history

In 1968 the Wittur elevator parts GmbH & Co. was founded by the then 26-year-old Horst Wittur. Initially, the company focused on the production of elevator shaft doors and trading in elevator components. In the course of company acquisitions and incorporations in particular, the components, which were initially only traded, were produced in-house. Subsidiaries in other European countries were founded early on. In 1977, Selcom SpA (now Wittur SpA ) established a production site in Colorno , Italy , and in 1980, Selcom Aragon (now Wittur Elevator Components SAU ) established a production site in Saragossa , Spain . At the same time, sales companies were gradually founded in various countries such as the Netherlands , France , Australia and Hong Kong , or investments were acquired.

In 1995 Wittur founded Suzhou Selcom (now Wittur Elevator Components (Suzhou) ), the first subsidiary in Asia. The plant in Suzhou , China , has grown steadily over the years. More than 650,000 elevator doors are now manufactured there each year (2013).

On the South American continent, with the takeover of SOIMET (today Wittur SA ) in Argentina and the establishment of Wittur Ltda. to gain a foothold in Brazil.

The most recent expansion of production facilities took place in 2009 in Krupina , Slovakia , and in 2010 in Chennai , India .

In August 2015 the merger of Wittur and Sematic, another global manufacturer of elevator components, was announced.

In February 2019, a cyber attack on the company led to a worldwide production shutdown.
