Vyacheslav Soroka

Vyacheslav A. Soroka (* 1944 ; † August 6, 2011 in Alushta , Crimea ) was a Soviet-Ukrainian theoretical physicist who, together with Dmitri Vasilyevich Volkov, discovered supergravity .

Soroka studied at the Kharkiv State University as a student of Volkov, received his doctorate in 1978 (dissertation: Some problems of gauge field theories in supersymmetric theories) and habilitated in 1993 (doctoral degree in the Russian system, habilitation: Eichfeld supersymmetry and supersymmetric theories with odd Poisson brackets). He was at the Achieser Institute for Theoretical Physics in Kharkiv. He died in an accident in 2011.

Wolkow and Soroka published their pioneering work on supergravity in 1973 (with the first introduction of gravitino ).
