Volodymyr Petrowytsch Akulow , ( Ukrainian Володимир Петрович Акулов , Russian Владимир Петрович Акулов , English transcription ; Vladimir Akulov , born October 10, 1944 in Uzhhorod , who is one of the Ukrainian supersymptians , who is one of the theoretical elementary physics specialists in Uzhhorod, is a Ukrainian physician .

Akulow studied at the Kharkiv State University with the degree in 1968 and was then assistant to Dmitri Vasilyevich Volkov at the Institute of Physics and Technology in Kharkiv . In 1973 he received his doctorate at the Institute for Theoretical Physics in Kiev under Volkov and in 1987 he completed his habilitation (Russian doctorate) at the Kharkiv State University.

In 1997 he went to the USA and worked at the City University of New York and from 2005 at the New York City College of Technology .

In 1972 he introduced supersymmetry in four-dimensional space-time with Volkov. ( Juri Abramowitsch Golfand and Yevgeny Pinchassowitsch Lichtman did this independently a year earlier .)

He later dealt with supergravity and, more recently, with brane dynamics, non-commutative differential geometry, and extended supersymmetric quantum mechanics.

In 2009 he received the Ukrainian National Prize in Science and Technology.
