Vladimir Betz

Vladimir Alexandrovich Betz ( Ukrainian Володимир Олексійович Бец / Volodymyr Oleksijowytsch Bez * April 14 jul. / 26. April  1834 greg. At Easter , Chernigov Governorate , † September 30 jul. / 12. October  1894 greg. In Kiev ) was a Ukrainian anatomist and histologist.

Betz studied medicine at the St. Vladimir University in Kiev until 1860 , where he received his doctorate in the same year and went to the anatomical institute there as a prosector . From 1868 to 1889 he was professor of anatomy in Kiev. In 1874 he described the Betz cells in the motor cortex, which were later named after him .
