Vladimir Emelyanovich Maximov

Wladimir Jemeljanowitsch Maximow ( Russian Владимир Емельянович Максимов ; born November 27, 1930 in Moscow , † March 26, 1995 in Paris ) was a Russian writer and dissident .

Life

Maximov was born under the name Lev Samsonow ( Russian Лев Алексе́евич Самсо́нов ). He was convicted as a criminal and spent several years in the camps and in exile. After his release in 1951, he lived in the Kuban area , where he began his writing. Maximov was expelled from the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1973 and emigrated to France in 1974, where he was editor of the magazine Kontinent .
