Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko ( Russian Владимир Иванович Немирович-Данченко , scientific transliteration. Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovič-Dancenko * 11 . Jul / 23. December  1858 greg. In ozurgeti ; † 25. April 1943 in Moscow ) was a Russian playwright and Theater director. As one of the first, he received the title of People's Artist of the USSR .

Life

Nemirowitsch-Danchenko first attended a high school in Tbilisi and later studied at the mathematics faculty of Moscow University . He wrote articles for humorous magazines, was a theater critic and newspaper editor.

Together with Konstantin Stanislawski , Nemirowitsch-Danchenko founded the Moscow Art Theater (MCHaT) in 1897 and headed several of its departments, including the musical one. Later it became an independent Stanislavsky and Nemirowitsch-Danchenko musical theater . He died of a heart attack on April 25, 1943 .
