Vladimir Sarev

Vladimir Sarev ( Bulgarian Владимир Зарев , common transliteration Vladimir Zarev ; * 1947 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) is a contemporary Bulgarian writer .

Life

Wladmir Sarew studied Bulgarian philology at St. Kliment Ohridski University in Sofia and has published 10 novels, several volumes of short stories and poems, and non-fiction books. Several of his works have been translated into Russian, German and English. In 2012, Vladimir Sarew completed his Weltschev trilogy - the third volume, Seelenasche , was published in September 2012 by Deuticke at Paul Zsolnay Verlag (Hanser literary publishers; the first two volumes had also been published there: Familienbrand and Feuerköpfe ). He achieved literary prestige at the latest with his novel Verfall (published in 2003 and translated into German in 2007 ), in which he describes the social upheavals in Bulgaria in the 1990s.

Sarew is editor of the literary magazine Sawremennik ( Bulgar . Съвременник, in German: contemporary), which he saved from closure in the 1990s. The literary magazine for foreign literature, which now has around 400 pages, is published quarterly and is one of the leading literary magazines in Bulgaria.
