Vladimir Vasilyevich Lebedew
Vladimir Lebedev ( Russian Владимир Васильевич Лебедев ; born May 14 . Jul / 26. May 1891 greg. In St. Petersburg , Russian Empire , † 21st November 1967 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) was a Russian painter and graphic artist.
Life
Vladimir Lebedev was the head of the state book publisher OGIS (Children's Books Department). He illustrated posters, books and magazines. He founded the Leningrad School of Book Graphics. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1966), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Fine Arts of the USSR (1967). He became famous for his illustrations of poems by Samuil Marschak , and is considered the most influential illustrator of the new Soviet children's book.
