history
Bremerhaven, which was founded in 1827 and is now the Mitte district, grew rapidly; first to the east to the Geeste . Houses No. 47 and No. 49 are among the few residential houses from the first settlement phase that have survived after 1944.
In the building epoch of classicism , the two two-story plastered gabled houses No. 47 and 49 with a gable roof were built around 1850 . Later around 1862 the ground floor was converted; two shops opened.
Building No. 53 was built around 1865 in the historicist era . The playful three- story central risalit with a straight end in the gable front is characteristic. Lili Marleen used to be the name of a small pub in the house.
The renovated houses in the middle of the up to 14-storey residential buildings are now (2018) used as apartments or holiday apartments (No. 53) and on the ground floor as restaurants and shops (No. 53).
The Prague street is a street parallel to the Mayor Smidt road (1849: Leher Street ) in South-North direction. In 1849 it was still called Langestrasse .
