The building is located at Khreshchatyk opposite of the coastal Bohdan Khmelnitsky Street ( Вул. Богдана Хмельницького ) and in the style of Constructivism built Central Department Store "TO" ( ЦУМ ) in the city center. Buildings like the Seven Sisters in Moscow are a model for the house built by German prisoners of war between 1953 and 1954 under Socialist Classicism .

The complex consists of a central, 14-storey building crowned by a tower and a star on the top and flanked by two 9-storey wings. The ensemble also includes two 11-storey residential buildings which are located in front of the main building on the right and left and thus form a beautiful and harmonious architectural ensemble on the Khreschatyk. The architects of the house with 113 rooms and 12,572 m² of living space, all from the Ukraine, were Anatolij Dobrowolskyj , Oleksandr Malynowskyj and Petro Petruschenko .

use

Most of the building is used as a residential building. The apartments in the house are among the most expensive in Ukraine. Until recently, the “Friendship” cinema ( Дружба ), which opened on February 16, 1956, was on the ground floor of the building .
