House at Hafenstrasse 199

The residential building at Hafenstrasse 199 in Bremerhaven - Lehe was built until 1909.
The building has been a listed building in Bremen since 1976 .

history

After the expansion of the ports in Alt- Bremerhaven, the Lehe area experienced a rapid upswing and the number of inhabitants grew from 10,955 to 37,457 from 1885 to 1910.
The five-storey, plastered and clinkered, neo-baroque and partly eclectic tenement house from the turn of the century was built for the merchant C. Clement according to plans by the architect K. Kappelmann. The residential and commercial building with around ten apartments and its central semicircular bay is emphasized by its baroque gable. Its design elements in Art Nouveau are worth mentioning . After 20 years of vacancy, the house is to be renovated around 2019/20.
In the neighborhood on Hafenstrasse there are other listed buildings from the same period as No. 153 and No. 192 .
