history

In the late 1950s, the Warndt coal mine was under construction in Karlsbrunn im Warndt . In Überherrn, about 20 km away, apartments were to be built for up to 20,000 employees in the coal mine. In 1959, an urban planning competition was held. A residential complex was created on the drawing board. However, the original plan was never fully implemented. The first construction phase comprised 600 apartments in private homes. The first families were able to move in in 1965. In 1966 the school in the residential town went into operation. From 1972 a parish center with a kindergarten was established. In 1979 the residential town became an independent district of Überherrn.
