Felsberg is a part of the municipality of Überherrn in the district of Saarlouis ( Saarland ). The district is divided into Unterfelsberg, Oberfelsberg and Neuhof. Until the end of 1973 Felsberg was an independent municipality.
location
Felsberg is located on the ascent from Saarlouis to the Saargau towards Metz and on to Paris . Felsberg is characterized by its scenic and topographically impressive location. While Unterfelsberg characterizes the vastness of the Saar Valley, the upper part (Oberfelsberg) belongs to the foothills of the Lorraine hill country. Ober- and Unterfelsberg are connected by a very steep ascending road, which is why the place is often called “Stai” (the steep path) in the Moselle-Franconian dialect.
history
The Saarlouis fortress was built from 1680 . For this purpose, stones from quarries in today's Oberfelsberg were also used. The stonemasons and their families settled on site and thus founded the village of Felsberg, which is named after the nearby Neufelsberg Castle . The first written mention of the place dates back to April 22, 1704.
As part of the Saarland territorial and administrative reform , the previously independent municipality of Felsberg was assigned to the municipality of Überherrn on January 1, 1974 .

In 2007, SV Felsberg became champions for the first time in its 60-year club history (Kreisliga B Saarlouis). SV Felsberg prevailed 2-1 in a playoff in Wadgassen against competitor SF Heidstock.
