Woldemar Voullaire

Henri Marc Hermann Woldemar Voullaire (born July 29, 1825 in Neuwelke, Livonia , today Jaunveļķi , Kocēni district , Latvia ; † June 12, 1902 in Herrnhut ) was a German organist , composer and preacher .

Life

Voullaire was born in 1825 in the settlement of Neuwelke (Livonia) of the Moravian Brethren and grew up there. In 1855 he was ordained a deacon in Gnadau near Magdeburg and from then on worked there as a preacher and organist for the Brethren. In 1891 he retired and moved to Herrnhut , where he died in 1902.

Voullaire has published numerous works for organ solo, solo voice and choir. His musical language corresponds to the mainstream of his time up to late romanticism .
