Wolf-Eckart Bühler

Wolf-Eckart Bühler ( September 17, 1945 - June 16, 2020 ) was a German director and book author.

Life

Bühler completed a degree in theater studies and philosophy. From 1972 he worked as an editor for the magazine Filmkritik .

After a series of television documentaries, Bühler staged a. a. three cinema productions for WDR in the mid-1980s. Subsequent plans to direct a purely fictional feature film came to nothing. Then he turned to writing travel guides. He wrote the first ever for Vietnam , the twelfth edition of which was published in 2014. He has been working with his partner Hella Kothmann for a long time.

The Munich Film Museum dedicated a retrospective to him in 2015. At the Locarno Festival 2018 he was honored for his work with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Bühler lived in Schwabing for more than four decades .
