Wolf Günther Dieffenbach

Wolf Günther Dieffenbach (* 1933 ) is a German sports official.

education and profession

After graduating from high school (1952), studying law (1952–1955 in Cologne and Tübingen) and passing the 2nd state law examination (1959 in Stuttgart ), Dieffenbach joined the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1960 as a civil servant . From 1964 to 1991 he worked in the Ministry of Culture, later Ministry of Science of the State of Baden-Württemberg, most recently as Head of Division. In 1991 he was appointed member of the board and managing director of the Academy for Technology Assessment in Stuttgart, newly established by the state of Baden-Württemberg as a public foundation , a position he held until his retirement in 1998.

From 1998 to 2004 Dieffenbach was an honorary coordinator of the Stuttgart Foundations Initiative. He then took part as a senior partner in the Startklar project in the state capital of Stuttgart, which aims to facilitate the transition to work for secondary school students, and volunteered to help with homework in a primary and secondary school.

Sports

In 1950 Wolf Dieffenbach began fencing at the Cannstatt gymnastics club. In 1952 he became press attendant, in 1965 (until 1981) chairman of the fencing department of the TVC. From 1966 he was used as a referee in national and international competitions. He was a member of the board of directors of the Württ. Fencing Federation from 1967 as chairman for refereeing and from 1974 to 2005 as vice-president. From 1976 to 1994 Dieffenbach was Vice President "International Affairs" on the board of the German Fencing Association. In 1977 he was elected to the regular commission of the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE), of which he was a member until 2004 and of which he was president from 1987 to 1992. From 1989 to 1992 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the FIE. Between 1978 and 1992 Dieffenbach was a member and president of the technical directorates at fencing world championships for active and juniors. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles he was a member of the technical directorate of the fencing competitions, at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and in Barcelona in 1992 he was technical delegate of the FIE.
