Wolf Kalz

Wolf Kalz (born February 10, 1933 in Halberstadt ; † December 25, 2018 in Riedlingen ) was a German author, historian and artist.

Life

In 1945 the family fled the war to Vilseck in the Upper Palatinate. There he worked primarily with wood in his parents' craft workshop. After graduating from high school in 1954 in Esslingen am Neckar, he first completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at IBM. 1956–1962 he studied philosophy, economics, German, history and political science. 1962–1964 he did his legal clerkship for teaching and received his doctorate in 1967 in Giessen. From 1967 he was a teacher at the German School in Santiago de Chile . There he was also involved in handicrafts with jewelry and stone. In 1970 he returned to Germany and was a teacher of German and history in Riedlingen an der Donau until 1995.

He wrote essays on Latin America for magazines such as “Foreign Policy” and “ Blätter für deutsche und Internationale Politik ”, later also for “ Criticón ”, “Zeitbühne”, “Staatsbriefe” and “Germany in Past and Present” as well as in several books. Among other things, he dealt with Gustav Landauer and Ernst Jünger .

Since 1990 he has been engaged in bronze and silver casting. He learned the technical basics from Gerold Jäggle in Ertingen. At the International Academy for Fine Arts in Trier, he took studies in life drawing and sculpture. His works can be seen as a permanent exhibition in the Riedlingen Town Hall. He had his first art exhibition in 1991.

He was a co-founder of the art association Kunstkreis 84 Riedlingen . In 2011 he founded the “Dr. Wolf Kalz Foundation ”in Riedlingen.
