Wolfdietrich Barmwoldt

Wolfdietrich Barmwoldt (born March 10, 1941 in Schwaan ) is a German engineer, seaman and educator .

Career

After training as a technical officer at the professional academy of the Rostock fish combine, Barmwoldt worked in maritime youth work for over thirty years. At the end of the 1980s, he managed the conversion of a cargo ship into a maritime youth center. Since the beginning of the 1990s he was the managing director and later chairman of the youth ship Likedeeler association in Rostock , which ensures the operation of the only floating school camp in Germany. The association also promotes open maritime child and youth work, the implementation of project days for Rostock schools and the preservation of the maritime heritage of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. In 2018 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to child and youth work.
