Wolfe Basin

The Wolfe Basin ( Wolfe Basin also Wolfe Creek Basin ) is a sedimentary basin in the Northern Territory of Australia .

In the sedimentary basin there are layers of rock up to 2 km thick that were formed in the Neoproterozoic 750 to 600 million years ago. The rocks in the basin are diamictite , sandstone , conglomerate and mudstone . It partially overlays the Victoria Basin and is overlaid by the Kalkarindji Province . The basin extends to Western Australia .

The area has not been explored geologically, however diamond and natural stone deposits are suspected.
