Wolfen is a German power and thrash metal band from Cologne, founded in 1994 .

history

After various appearances, u. a. In 1995 at the London Marquee Club , the band recorded the demo Mission of Freedom with the line-up of Andreas von Lipinski (vocals and bass), Frank J. Noras (guitars) and Karsten Drexler (drums) . A year later the band released the demo No Sleep til Dawn (with Martin Orbanz on drums) and a year later Blindfold in Stone (with Björn Grüne on second guitar and Maurice Lohrke on bass). In the spring of 1998 the band recorded the CD Demo '98 (meanwhile with Arnulf Schmitz on bass and Martin Below on drums). A year later the demo Apocalyptic Waltz followed (on bass Gernot Thiel).

In 2000 the band released their debut album Don't Trust the White . After the recordings, Holger Bloempott joined the band on drums. This line-up was followed by Humanity ... Sold out! and in 2006 The Truth Behind . During this time the band had various appearances, including with Kreator , In Flames , Hate Squad , Annihilator and Perzonal War .

After Bloempott left and, shortly afterwards, Thiel and Lipinski, Noras and Grüne kept the band alive with various lineups. With the return of singer von Lipinski and in 2009 from Bloempott, the band started Mission Chapter IV as a quartet with singer von Lipinski again on bass. In 2012 the band released the album on their new record company Pure Steel Records .

After the recordings and various appearances, the band looked around for a new bass player so that Andreas von Lipinski could concentrate on the vocals. With Nicolas Filter on bass she played at festivals in Germany (Battle of Metal, Summernight Open Air, Heavy Metal Battle, Hochland Rock) and the Netherlands with Martyr before the songwriting for the fifth album began.

In September 2014 Evilution was released , with which the band, in addition to individual appearances, went on the “German Metal Attack Tour” with Nitrogods , Heavatar and Grave Digger at the end of 2014 .

Holger Bloempott left the band at the end of 2015. At the beginning of 2016, Siggi Grütz was introduced as the new drummer. Björn Grüne left the band in spring 2017. In the summer of 2017, Andreas Doetsch was introduced as the new guitarist. With this line-up they went to Gernhart Studios in January 2018 to record the sixth long player.

In spring 2018, the band's first two long players will be announced as double CDs by the Pure Steel Records label, as the original CDs have not been available for a long time. As a bonus, an unreleased song from the humanity era should be included. Rise of the Lycans is slated for release in summer 2018.
