Wolfgang Adler

Wolfgang Adler (born May 27, 1959 in Merzig ) is a German prehistorian .

Life

He completed his PhD studies (1980–1989) in Prehistory and Protohistory at Saarland University and (1983/1984) Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Munich with a doctorate under Rolf Hachmann . From 1989 to 1996 he was a research fellow at the DFG project Tell Kāmid el-Lōz (Rolf Hachmann). From 1996 to 2001 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Giessen . After completing his habilitation in 2001 at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, he was appointed private lecturer in Giessen in 2001. From 2001 to 2003 he temporarily represented the professorship for Prehistory and Protohistory at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. Since 2004, he has been the conservationist at the State Monuments Office Saarland and representative of the Saarland in the Association of State Archaeologists . In 2010 he was appointed adjunct professor at Saarland University.

His main research interests are the more recent pre-Roman Iron Age and Roman Imperial Era in Central and Northern Europe, prehistory and early history of the Saar-Moselle region, research history of prehistoric archeology and archaeological monument preservation in theory and practice.
