Wolfgang Bauer (born February 14, 1970 in Passau ) is a German geodesist . Since April 1st, 2017 he has been President of the State Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying in Munich (former State Office for Surveying and Geoinformation or, before that, Bavarian State Office for Surveying).

Life

Bauer studied geodesy at the Technical University of Munich and then worked for the Free State of Bavaria in IT development for the Bavarian surveying administration. He then worked as a consultant in the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance in the IT department of the surveying administration. After his next job as deputy head in the eGovernment department of the Bavarian State Chancellery , he completed the “Administrative Management Course”. He then headed the IT department in the Munich office of the State Office for Finance, with a focus on SAP development, and moved back to the Ministry of Finance in 2008, where he headed the IT policy department.

From August 1, 2009, he headed Section IT1 in the staff unit of the IT Commissioner of the Bavarian State Government, and from January 1, 2014, Section 77 in the digitization department of the Ministry of Finance. Here he was in charge of IT strategy, Bay. Communication networks (BayKOM), IT security and control of the data centers. From March 1, 2014, in addition to the head of the department, he also took on the role of deputy head of department for IT matters in the department.
