Wolfgang Bruhn
Wolfgang Bruhn (born May 13, 1886 in Lübeck , † May 11, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German art historian .
Life
Wolfgang Bruhn was a son of the inventor Friedrich Wilhelm Gustav Bruhn and came to Berlin with his family. After graduating from high school in Berlin in 1906, he began studying art and music history as well as philosophy in Freiburg, Halle and Berlin. The doctorate to Dr. phil. in Würzburg in 1921, with the inaugural dissertation: "The ornamentation in the Italian printed works of the early Renaissance, mainly in Venice".
Since January 1, 1922 - due to the tense financial situation of the museums, he was initially only a library administrator - at the Berlin Museum of Applied Arts, he was responsible for the Lipperheidesche costume library and its exhibitions; on June 1, 1934, in his role as head of the Lipperheide Costume Library, he became curator at the State Art Library in Berlin.
Wolfgang Bruhn was born in 1922 with Marianne. Rubner, a daughter of the Berlin physiologist Max Rubner , married. The marriage resulted in three children, including their daughter Johanna Quandt in 1926 .
