Wolfgang Ehrenberger

Wolfgang Dieter Ehrenberger (* 1941 in Mährisch-Trübau ) is a German information scientist .

Life

Ehrenberger studied electrical engineering and communications engineering at the Technical University of Munich , today's Technical University of Munich . After graduating in 1966, he first worked as a development engineer at Siemens in the central communications laboratory in Munich. From 1968 to 1984 he was a scientist at the Technical University of Munich and later a group leader at the Society for Reactor Safety in Garching. The main focus of research was the approval of computers in safety applications in nuclear power plants . In 1971, Ehrenberg with a thesis on Hybrid computers at the Technical University of Munich to Dr. Ing. PhD .

Ehrenberg received in 1984 a reputation as a professor for software engineering and software security at the University of Applied Sciences Fulda, today University of Fulda , and thus one of the first professors of the newly created Department of Applied computer science there. He retired in 2006, but is still a lecturer at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences and is active in various committees.

Wolfgang Ehrenberger 's main research areas were verification and approval issues of software for safety - relevant applications. In particular, he worked on the standards IEC 61508 and IEC 62443 and was a member of the relevant national and international working groups (IEC SC65AMT12, "Safe Software"; IEC SC65CWG13, "Communications Security Profiles for Process Control Systems"; IEC TC65WG10, "Cyber Security "). In addition, he was and is involved in the European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems Reliability, Safety and Security (EWICS) and contributed to the creation of the first version of IEC 60880.

Wolfgang Ehrenberger has been a member of the Catholic German Student Union Trifels since 1961 and a member of the KDStV Adolphiana Fulda in the Cartell Association (CV) since 1986 .
