Wolfgang Fürlinger

Wolfgang Fürlinger (born September 6, 1933 in Peilstein im Mühlviertel ; † May 30, 2019 ) was an Austrian university professor , organist and composer .

Life

Fürlinger studied organ at the Bruckner Conservatory and at the Salzburg Mozarteum . He was an elementary school, secondary school and middle school teacher. From 1968 to 1997 Fürlinger worked at the Pedagogical Academy of the Diocese of Linz . At the same time, he taught at times at the Bruckner Conservatory (1963 to 1998) and at the Salzburg Mozarteum (1975 to 1981).

Fürlinger rediscovered, arranged and published around 230 works from the Baroque period, including almost three dozen compositions by Johann Ernst Eberlin (1702–1762) from Salzburg . He has also created numerous compositions for the liturgy. In the own part of the (arch) dioceses of Austria des Gotteslobs (2013) the following compositions can be found:

  • 728: 2 Show me your ways
  • 841 Open my ears, Holy Spirit
  • 899,2 His word is my way and help
  • 987: 1 Your word, O Lord, is light on my path

He was organist at the Church of the Brothers of Mercy in Linz for more than 50 years .

Wolfgang Fürlinger died in May 2019 at the age of 86.
