Wolfgang Fenner (historian)

Wolfgang Fenner (* 1956 in Wuppertal , † 17th May 2014 in Wuppertal) was a German Germanist and historian , whose research Adolph von Knigge , Freemasonry were and regional history.

Live and act

The doctor of German studies has dealt with the history of the town of Schwelm for many years . Since 1987 he has worked as the author of numerous articles on regional history and as a speaker in the Verein für Heimatkunde Schwelm e. V. Many of them were published in articles on local history of the city of Schwelm and its surroundings , he was co-editor of this publication from 1996 to 2012 and later sole editor. Articles by him were also published in Martfeld-Kurier .

Fenner was a member of the Board of Trustees of the von der Heydt Culture Prize and an employee of the Left Party in the Wuppertal City Council. He died after a serious illness at the age of 58 in Wuppertal. Until his death he was on the board of the Heimatkunde Schwelm e. V., Förderverein Historisches Zentrum Wuppertal and in the Otto Pankok Society, Hünxe.
