Wolfgang Götz (economist)

Wolfgang Götz (born November 17, 1951 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German economist .

He studied economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and taught macroeconomics, management and accounting. In 2005 he succeeded Georges Estievenart as Director of the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA); In 2009 he was re-elected for a further five-year term.

Götz had been with the EMCDDA since 1996. Before that he worked in the administration of the state of Baden-Württemberg and at EUROSTAT in Luxembourg .
