Wolfgang Gatzke

Wolfgang Gatzke (* 1952 ) was director of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Criminal Police Office in Düsseldorf from 2004 to November 2013 .

Life

Gatzke joined the police service in 1970 and switched to the criminal service early on . There he was deployed in Düren and Aachen to fight break-ins , robbery and homicides as well as to fight drug-related crime .

In 1982 Gatzke began training for the higher police enforcement service at the Police Leadership Academy in Münster-Hiltrup (now the German Police University ). After completing his training, he was employed in leading positions in Düsseldorf to fight hostage-taking, kidnapping and extortion. After further assignments, he moved to the Ministry of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia from 1993 until he was appointed permanent representative of the LKA director in 1997. On January 19, 2004, Gatzke was appointed Director of the State Criminal Police Office by Interior Minister Fritz Behrens .
