Wolfgang Grobauer

Wolfgang Grobauer (* 1960 in Zurich ) is a Swiss chef.

Career

Grobauer comes from a family of restaurateurs. He grew up in Munich. After training at the Grand Hotel Continental (Munich) , he switched to Le Canard with Josef Viehhauser in Hamburg (one Michelin star ). This was followed by Le Gourmet at Otto Koch in Munich (one Michelin star), and Le Chantecler in Nice at Jacques Maximin in the luxury hotel Negresco .

He is a founding member of the Jeunes Restaurateurs .

In 1991 his cookbook "Preparing and enjoying fish and seafood with pleasure and love" was published.

He became head chef at Landhaus Dill in Hamburg, which was awarded a Michelin star, as did Cölln's Austerstuben in Hamburg and U Santa Maria in Corsica in 1991 . He then cooked at Le Dôme in Paris and, from 2007, at Villa Mandarine in Rabat .

In 1995 Grobauer took over the Cölln's Austernstuben in Hamburg, whose head chef he had been since 1990. In 2000 bankruptcy was filed. 2001 the restaurant was closed. Grobauer then worked at Au Quai in Hamburg, which he left a few weeks after it opened.

Since 2011 he has been head chef at the Grand Hotel Residencia in Gran Canaria . The hotel, and the associated kitchen, was named the world's best TUI hotel for the sixth time in 2019.
