The Hotel Negresco is a 1912 opened luxury hotel in the style of the Belle Epoque directly on the waterfront Promenade des Anglais in Nice . The name comes from the Romanian builder Henri Negresco . Édouard Niemans was the architect. The building's eye-catching pink dome was designed by Gustave Eiffel , legend has it that a lover's bosom served as a model. Hotel Negresco is one of the founding members of the renowned hotel association The Leading Hotels of the World .

The hotel has 96 rooms and 21 suites , each room being furnished in a different style. The hotel also includes the gourmet restaurant Le Chantecler , which regularly receives top awards in restaurant guides : for 2013 it has two stars in the Michelin Guide . Chef de cuisine is Madame Virginie Basselot. The clothes of the porters , who are dressed in the style of the 19th century, are also famous .

The hotel was immediately a popular meeting place for crowned heads and the international money nobility. However, the First World War did not allow the successes to last long. The hotel was converted into a military hospital. Even after the war, the old times did not want to return. Under pressure from Henri Negresco's creditors, the hotel was soon sold to Belgian investors. After that, the development of the hotel was very changeable.

The current owners have been the Augier family since 1957. Mme. Jeanne Augier furnished the hotel in today's palatial style. The hotel also houses an extensive art collection by both classical and contemporary painters. In 2003 the hotel was listed as a historic building by the French state .

After the death of Mme. Augier on January 7, 2019, a foundation she set up is the owner of the hotel. You found your final resting place at the Cimetière Caucade in Nice.
