Wolfgang H. Pleger

Wolfgang H. Pleger (born March 28, 1944 in Demmin , Western Pomerania) is a German philosopher and emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Koblenz-Landau .

Pleger made important contributions to Plato / Socrates research and wrote an introduction to the philosophy of the pre-Socratics , which has now become a standard work. In addition, he published works on Schleiermacher , Hegel and Heraklit as well as on philosophical anthropology. His ethical, political-philosophical and pedagogical positions are clearly influenced by Hegel, Marx and Sartre . In the field of the philosophy of religion he has dealt critically with the church fathers Augustine and Tertullian .

Pleger is a student of the Münster philosopher and Kant expert Friedrich Kaulbach .
