Wolfgang Junglas

Wolfgang Junglas (born October 28, 1955 in Mayen ) is a German wine journalist, restaurant tester and TV producer .

Life

education

From 1962 to 1971 he attended primary school and then Mendig secondary school . After graduating from secondary school, he initially completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk at Mittelrhein-Verlag in Koblenz until 1974 . In 1977 he made up his Abitur in the Hessenkolleg and studied sociology from 1977 to 1984 at the University of Frankfurt with a focus on statistics, social psychology and economics.

Professional background

After an internship at the ZDF editorial team “tele-illustrated” in 1983, he was initially a freelancer, reporter and broadcaster for ZDF “tele-illustrated” until 1987. From 1985 he worked for SWR for various programs such as “Blick ins Land”, “Output”, “Igel”, “Question mark”, “Markt & Pfennig”.

As an editor, Junglas was responsible for a number of very successful series from the 1990s, such as Johann Lafer kocht with 378 episodes in the ARD evening program (1990–2003), Glaskasten (1992–1994) and Lafers Himmel un Erd with 269 episodes between 1998 and 2006 At the end of 1993 he helped develop the concept for the Fröhlicher Weinberg program and discovered Ulrike Neradt for television. From 1994 to 2005 he oversaw 125 episodes of this format. Since 1998 he has also been responsible as an editor for the annual broadcast of the election of the German Wine Queen .

From 2000 to 2010, together with his wife Tracey, he published the recipe magazine “ Cooking in the Southwest ” for the publishing house “Konzept Cooking ”. In 2004 he founded the television production and event company Konzept TV. Previous productions: for the ZDF program "Environment", for Fairtrade "Rosen aus Kenya", for the SWR "With Johann Lafer around the world". Junglas has been chairman of Weinfeder eV, the association of German-speaking wine journalists, since 2000, and since May 2019 Junglas has been president of the international wine journalists association FIJEV - Fédération internationale des journalists et écrivains du vin.

As an author, Junglas wrote more than a dozen books on wine, travel and gastronomy, some of which, like the Guide to Landgasthöfe in Rhineland-Palatinate, achieved several editions. From 1995 to 1999 he also worked as a tester for the Gault Millau Restaurant Guide. Since 2011, Junglas has been organizing entertainment events in the Brentano barn in Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau as director of the "Rheingau Wine Stage".

In 2018 he worked as editor and producer of the SWR series WeinSafari 3: Unterwegs in Rheinhessen and WeinSafari 4: Unterwegs an der Ahr with Janina Huber . Since 2019 he has been working as a lecturer for new media at the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences in the project "Story Telling in Social Media."
