Rudolf Knoll (wine critic)

Rudolf Knoll (* 1947 in Munich ) is a German wine critic , journalist and book author.

Life

Rudolf Knoll learned the trade of publishing clerk . As a journalist, he began his career as an editor for a daily newspaper and as a sports reporter. From 1980 to 1984 he was editor-in-chief of the magazine Weinfreund , then until 2009 he was the chief editor of the wine magazine Vinum for Germany and Austria. Since 2014 he has been one of the three German editors-in-chief of the magazine. Knoll has written more than 40 books about wine and was a member of the Gault-Millau tasting team until 2015 .

In 1993 he was awarded the Steinfeder Prize for wine journalism from the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus . In 2004 the Association of German Predicate and Quality Wineries (VDP) awarded him the special prize for journalism VDP Trophy “Origin Germany” for his services to German wine . In 2007 he received the Staufer Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg for his services to German red wine.

Knoll lives and works in Schwandorf .
